Coffee Tasting & New Sandwiches @ Starbucks, SM Lanang Premier
August 13, 2013 - I was one of the lucky fellows who had a chance to attend this Starbucks event that happened last Tuesday. As I was on my way to SM Lanang Premier, I didn't expect a heavy traffic to welcome my journey! But I know that I'll not be late as the event starts at 6 P.M. :D
I arrived at Starbucks with lots of bloggers in attendance and found a vacant table. Later on, more bloggers came, shared the seats with them and the event started.
The first thing we did was Coffee Tasting (The Starbucks way). We were given 2 cups of coffee to taste and we were instructed how to do the coffee tasting. First, we smell the coffee. By smelling the coffee, you'll know how strong they are. Second, we slurp the coffee. By slurping the coffee, you'll know their taste if it's strong or not. Third thing we did was locating. The last thing we did was to describe the coffees. Now I know how to taste the coffee, the Starbucks way!
The second thing we did was to taste the new sandwiches. I haven't tasted their sandwiches and this was a good time to taste them finally! Each blogger was served with a plate filled with 5 sandwiches and we had so much fun feasting on them! These are the new sandwiches and the returning sandwich of Starbucks:
Spinach Artichoke and Mushroom on Herbed Multi-Grain Bread. This is their new vegetarian sandwich that consists of a warm artisan multi-grain rye bread stuffed with a delicious blend of cheese, spinach, artichoke, mushrooms, garlic and onions. Price: 160 Pesos
This is a perfect sandwich for veggie lovers and vegetarians alike and as a veggie lover, I would love to munch this sandwich and this might be my substitute for lunch! :D
Tuna and Cheese on Dark Ciabatta Bread. This sandwich consists of a classic tuna dill salad, slices of hard-boiled egg and creamy melted cheese on a toasted dark ciabatta bread. Price: 175 Pesos
The tuna flavor of this sandwich was indeed tasty and gotta love the dark ciabatta bread! It's so soft and don't ever miss a single bite of this bread! The combination was perfect!
Salami and Cheese on Marbled Rye Bread. It's a soft and chewy bread filled with sliced savory salami, provolone and cheddar cheese.
Price: 165 Pesos
This is my least favorite among the new sandwiches maybe because of the marbled rye bread but the salami and cheese were delicious!
Roasted Chicken Pesto and Shiitake Mushroom on Flat Bread. This is a returning sandwich and it consists of a juicy roasted chicken breast fillet tossed with aromatic pesto mayo sauce and Shiitake mushroom topped with melted Emmenthal and cheddar cheese on grilled flat bread. Price: 165 Pesos
Although I like what's inside the sandwich, the bread is kinda hard for me to chew but nonetheless, it's the sandwich that you must try.
The other sandwich was the Bacon and Cheese on Herbed Ciabatta Bread (Just find this sandwich on the plate. Sorry!). It's a sinfully delicious gooey grilled cheese sandwich coupled with six types of cheeses (Gruyere, Emmenthal, Provolone, Mozzarela, Feta and Cheddar) and crispy bacon strips. Subtly seasoned with creamy pesto sauce on herbed ciabatta bread. Price: 165 Pesos.
The sandwich was delicious and it's to die for! The six cheeses and creamy pesto sauce were perfect partners as it brought out flavors that made the sandwich a must eat!
After they fed us with five sandwiches, we were served with cheesecakes. Mine was the Mango Yogurt Cheesecake. This cheesecake has mango bits inside and on the top are crushed grahams. I expected a rich, creamy cheesecake but when I sliced it, it's crumbly (?) and it was not soft as I expected it too be. But I was able to finish the cheesecake because it's undeniably yummy! Price: 110 Pesos.
Just last August 7, 2013, Starbucks announced the launch of the Starbucks Card in all Starbucks location all throughout the Philippines. This is a loyalty card that offers rewards when making purchases all over Starbucks branches here in the country. Starting today, customers who use the Starbucks Card can earn 1 Star for every purchase of any handcrafted beverage, 250 grams of whole bean coffee and 12-pack of Starbucks VIA Ready Brew.
Starbucks customers can activate a Starbucks Card for a minimum amount of 300 Pesos. The card can be reloaded with money up to 10,000 Pesos. It allows the customers to pay for their favorites without having the money. Customers who register online can protect their balance anytime their card is lost or stolen. In the Starbucks event, they surprised us by giving out the Starbucks Card already loaded with 1000 Pesos!
I had so much fun that day with the Davao Bloggers as we were so stuffed with their new sandwiches and the cheesecake. I've learned a lot from Coffee Tasting and how it's done. Thank you so much Starbucks! :D
I just used the Starbucks Card last August 15 and it was indeed convenient for those who want to purchase products with ease. Even though you don't have a cash as long as you have the Starbucks Card, you can enjoy your coffee time using your card.
